The Collin County Historic Preservation Group, Inc. was organized in 1997 by twenty Charter Members who were from Collin County, passionately interested in historical preservation and all previous members of the Collin County Historical Commission. Although there were and still are many diverse, individual heritage organizations throughout Collin County, our founders saw the need for a countywide umbrella organization of supporters that were dedicated to preserving the rich heritage of the entire Collin County area and the North Texas region, while encouraging co-operation between and support for all existing historical organizations.
So, our founding members incorporated a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, created a set of bylaws and began their initial efforts to promote the goals to which they ascribed. The initial officers in 1998 were the following:
