BOLIN WILDLIFE & HISTORICAL MUSEUM

These two unique exhibits, presented by Bolin Oil Company and the W. Perry Bolin family, have been visited by over ten thousand visitors annually since 1980. There is a self-guided heritage tour of a large collection of Bolin family antiques in accurate historical vignette settings of early Collin County life and an incredible trophy collection of wild animals from around the world hunted and preserved by Perry Bolin and his family. These exhibits are a local treasure and are located in an air-conditioned, private exhibit hall at 1028 North McDonald Street, McKinney, Texas, 75069. The two exhibits are open weekdays from 9 AM to 12 PM and 1 PM to 4:30 PM, except holidays. There is NO CHARGE for admission. Please allow at least an hour or more to properly enjoy both exhibits. CHESTNUT SQUARE

This collection of eight historic Collin County houses and buildings from the 1850s will take you back in time to your ancestors era. There is a living history program conducted on the fourth Sunday of each month from 1 PM to 4 PM. Regulars tours by docents are conducted on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 11 AM. COLLIN COUNTY FARM MUSEUM

This County managed Farm Museum features a visual history of donated agricultural equiptment, displayed for your self-tour. In addition there are restored farm buildings including an old farmhouse, sheds and the original "Confinement Building" from the early "Collin County Poor Farm." This unique museum is located just North of the Collin County Youth Park near the intersection of CR #166 and CR #168. Drive West from Highway #75 in McKinney on Highway #380 and turn North at FM #1461. Follow the signs to the Youth Park. This museum is open for tours Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM and is closed from 12 PM to 1 PM. Admission cost: $1.00 per person. For more information, call 972.548.4793

COLLIN COUNTY HISTORIC PRESERVATION GROUP

The Collin County Historic Preservation Group office is located in McKinney, Texas. We offer several publications such as our reprint of Stambaugh's "History of Collin County" and our recently revised "Historical Markers of Collin County". In addition, we offer local research services in Collin County for family history genealogists and historians. COLLIN COUNTY HISTORY MUSEUM

The Collin County Historical Society presents a visual history of Collin County in the "Old Post Office Museum" at 105 North Chestnut, McKinney, Texas, just Northeast of the old Collin County Courthouse and town square. They offer various rotating exhibits, such as "Collin County in the Civil War" in addition to the permanent collection. A gift shop offers historic memorabillia and publications. The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 AM to 4 PM. Admission Cost: $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children ages 6 to 12 years old. HEARD-CRAIG HISTORIC CENTER

This beautiful 100 year old Queen Anne-Prairie designed former home of the Charles Heard family in McKinney, Texas has been fully restored with period decorations and original Heard family memorabelia. Located at 205 West Hunt Street in McKinney. Tours are conducted by prior appointment only on Tueday and Thursday at 2 PM and Saturday at 1 PM, 2 PM and 3 PM. HERITAGE FARMSTEAD MUSEUM

The Heritage Farmstead Museum is a four acre living farm, museum and historical site with an authentic 14 room 1891 Victorian farm house, gardens, animals, smokehouse and blacksmith shop. Located in Plano, Texas at 1900 West 15th Street, just West of Highway #75. Grounds are open Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 1 PM to 4 PM. Tours are conducted Thursday through Friday from 10 Pm to 2 PM and Saturday and Sunday at 1 PM and 2:45 PM. Admission Cost: $5.00 for Adults and $3.50 for Children and Seniors. INTERURBAN RAILWAY MUSEUM

This transportation themed historic site and museum was a former stop on the Texas Electric Railway line that ran from Dallas to Denison until 1948. The entire system was know as the "Interurban" and it connected many Texas cities and towns and provided hourly passenger and light freight service before paved roads, automobiles and buses. The museum features an original railcar and old transportation artifacts. Located in Haggard Park in Plano, Texas just East of Highway #75 (Central Expressway) at 901 East 15th Street and is open Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 2 PM and Saturday from 1 PM to 5 PM.
